Owens Corning - History

1932 - in Owens Illinois is produced first glass string.
1935 - company Corning Glass – expert of glass production starting cooperation with OI.
1938 - both “parents” create new company Owens-Corning Fiberglas Corporation.
II. world war - OC products are use on different ways, most important is agreement with US Navy.
1945 - increase wide using of FRP, first boat, first fishing rod...
1953 - over 10.000 Corvette cars of 1st generation is produced with body from FRP.
1969 - lunar modul insulated with OC materials is on the Moon, first men on Moon in space suite produced with OC materials.
1976 - first time is turnover increase 1 mld USD..
1977 - OC do first step in shingle business, first use of fiberglas mat for production of shingles.
1996 - new building of word headquarters in Toledo.
2005 - turnover 6 mld. USD.
At present time is OC over 20000 employees in more than 300 facilities, at more than 25 countries. Synonym for present days is innovation, invention, progress.
